Malawi Video: WHY 10 women die every day giving birth

Malawi is one of the countries in Africa south of the Sahara where maternal mortality is the highest. The main reasons are the long distances to health facilities, lack of trained health personnel and poor equipment. If these inadequacies were put right, the numbers of women dying would be drastically reduced.

The minister of health thanks Norway for supporting Malawi female politicians

In her opening remarks in Oslo, Honorable Minister of Health Ms. Catherine Gotani Hara said she was thankful for Norway’s support to female politicians in Malawi.

Minister Hara is in Oslo contributing to the Global Health conference Accelerating progress: Saving women’s and children’s lives in the coming decade, on January 22.

US Universities to Offer Malawi 100 Scholarships Annually

Malawi will in the next few years partner with ten international universities that will be offering 100 scholarships to Malawian students each year.

Founder of a United States of America charity organisation 100 X Development Foundation Lindy Blanchard told Zodiak Online that the initiative will bring together various universities together from the USA.

Ms Blanchard spoke in Lilongwe when her organisation offered scholarships to three girls to study in the United States of America.
