PUPILS from the Prebendal School in Chichester have raised money for Malawi children.
The school’s concert band performed at St Richard’s Church, in Slindon, on March 2, in aid of the Nick Webber Trust, which helps street children in Malawi.
More than £1,300 was raised, and a further £500 by selling cakes and glow sticks.
The charity was set up in memory of Nick Webber, a 28-year-old lawyer who died in a car crash while working in Malawi as a volunteer lawyer. St Richard’s was his local church.
This term, Year 8 pupils Imogen Ashby, Catherine Dickinson, Joseph Hammond, Isabella Hicks, Jocelyn Madden and Francesca Miller chose to raise money for the charity.
Every £250 raised provides a year’s food, accommodation and education for one child.
Headmaster Tim Cannell said: “The children are a credit to themselves and to the school.”
