World Bank approves US$89.4 million credit to Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia

The World Bank has approved a loan worth US$89.4 million to fund a programme to increase agricultural productivity in Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia, the World Bank said in a statement issued Thursday in Washington.

Under the terms of the Programme for Agricultural Productivity in Southern Africa the World Bank will also donate US$600,000 to the Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (Ccardesa), a regional organisation based in Gaborone, Botswana.

The programme is intended to increase the availability of improved agricultural technology in countries in the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) by boosting regional cooperation…

UK gives Malawi £37million to help tackle HIV and boost the supply of vital medication

Malawi will receive £37 million in UK aid to help tackle HIV and boost the supply of vital medication, Justine Greening has announced.

The International Development Secretary said £21 million had been earmarked for projects to reduce the number of HIV infections in the African nation. They include giving 164,000 couples and 17,000 pregnant women counselling and testing for the infection as well as the distribution of more than 23 million condoms.

After a meeting with Malawian president Joyce Banda at the Department for International Development’s Scottish headquarters in East Kilbride, Ms Greening also confirmed…

Cmed in Area 47 in Lilongwe, situated at ABC Clinic´s, north wing are NOW able to do mammograms. We strongly recommend that you have a mammogram if you are over 40 years old or have a history of cancer in your family.

We also recommend that women in their twenties and thirties have a routine mammogram every three years.

You do not need a doctors referral to have a mammogram done. We will provide a CD with your results and/or email them to you if you choose.
